The Process of Offshore Oil Extraction

The process of offshore oil extraction mainly includes the following steps:

1. Offshore exploration: Using geological exploration techniques to search for potential seabed oil and gas resources. Exploration activities include seismic exploration, logging, and core collection.

2. Drilling operation: After determining the resource reserves and reservoir properties, drilling operations are carried out. Firstly, a drilling platform or drilling vessel needs to be installed, and then drilling operations are carried out to gradually drill the drill pipe into the seabed formation. After reaching the target depth, drilling and merging are formed.

3. Wellbore completion: By cementing and other methods, the drilling wellbore is sealed to ensure that oil and gas do not leak inside the wellbore.

4. Offshore production: Oil extraction is carried out offshore through equipment such as production platforms and FPSOs (Floating Production and Storage Units). By drilling and opening the eyes, crude oil or natural gas is pumped to the surface for processing and separation. During this process, it is also necessary to carry out related operations such as storage and logistics transportation of remaining oil and gas.

5. Oil storage and transportation: The collected oil is stored in equipment such as processing platforms, storage tanks, or FPSOs, and then transported or sold through pipelines, container ships, or natural gas liquefaction ships.

6. Oil well maintenance and removal: Based on the characteristics of the oil reservoir and the actual production situation of the oil well, maintenance and removal operations of the oil well are carried out, including hydraulic acid washing, secondary development, process optimization, and abandoned oil well repair. This can extend the lifespan of oil extraction and increase production capacity.

It should be noted that the offshore oil extraction process involves factors such as large equipment, complex processes, and special environments, which place high demands on technology, safety, and environmental protection. Relevant regulations and rules need to be followed to ensure the safety and sustainability of operations.
